Dianabol, or Methandrostenolone as it’s chemically known, is an extremely popular and effective steroid which is commonly made available in the form of an oral tablet which a user can take. Dianabol is known under other terms, such as DBol’s, or Diana’s, and is widely available in the underground scene. The drug is not manufactured by any pharmaceutical companies so any orals found will be produced by an underground lab, with orals typically available in 5mg, 10mg and 50mg tablets. The steroid is widely known as Dianabol as this was the brand name given to the drug by the Ciba pharmaceutical company when they manufactured the drug, and since then the name has stuck. Dianabol remains ones of the most popular steroids available, a testament to its effectiveness and cheapness.
Dianabol, although typically found as an oral, is also sparsely manufactured in an injectable format. The most common choice by far for users is the oral option however, a common choice for those beginning their first course of steroids and do not wish to inject themselves as they would if they were to follow a course of testosterone. Dianabol has a short half life, or in other words; the blood concentration quickly peaks after administration and dips within a few hours. It is for this reason that users will take a dosage split over the course of the day, so to maintain concentration levels and avoid the peaks and crashes associated with one large dosage. There are some users which prefer to take the daily dosage all in one sitting however, administrating the drug prior to a workout so the trainee benefits from the heightened effects whilst training. This method is commonly employed by those who have a base compound however, and use Dianabol as an additional pre workout compound. This method is not usually worthwhile for most, and the split dosage is also likely less harsh on the liver.
Dianabol dosage
Typically a course of Dianabol will involve a daily dosage of 30-50mg, split throughout the day. The user may wish to consume the oral at meal times to minimise any stomach upset associated with the steroid. A course would usually last for between 4 and 6 weeks, depending on tolerance to the various side effects. Somebody new to steroids would not want to exceed 40mg per day, and would be wise to be more cautious and begin with 30mg. Even experienced users will not go beyond the 60-70mg level, with additional gains diminishing and ever increasing negative side effects.
Side effects
Drinking alcohol during a Dianabol course should be totally avoided and extra care taken to ensure other possible activities or drugs which can cause liver strain are avoided. Dianabol is toxic to the liver, or “hepatotoxic”. For this reason the course should not be excessive in duration, and the dosage should be limited to prevent excessive damage. Those with a history of liver issues should avoid this steroid completely.
Oily skin and acne are especially common among Dianabol users, with the steroid displaying very pronounced Androgenic side effects. Users who are prone to such side effects may wish to avoid this steroid all together as Dianabol is likely to irritate such conditions harshly. Another potential side effect is the formation of breast tissue, known as Gynecomastia. This side effects may begin with itchy nipples and/or puffy nipples, and if left can develop into notable male breasts which require surgery to remove. Anti-aromatase and anti-oestrogen drugs are therefore commonly kept at hand, and taken if found necessary in the hope of combating this side effect.
A post cycle therapy is highly recommended after a steroid cycle so the natural production of testosterone, which is suppressed during a steroid cycle, is resumed.
